From ramen noodle toppings to avocado toast, eggs are featured in almost every cuisine. Plus, they’re cheap and super quick to cook. That’s why they’re often a key feature in the meal plans of fitness fanatics and those trying to lose weight. Eggs a good source of hard-to-get nutrients like vitamins D and B12 as well as the mineral iodine. Eggs are a “complete” source of protein, containing all nine essential amino acids. The whites are a source of leucine, an amino acid that may help with weight loss. Should you store eggs in the fridge? While they’re often out in the open in grocery stores, research does actually show that eggs keep better if they’re refrigerated. So if you have the space, go ahead and keep them in the fridge. The most important thing is to keep them at a constant temperature, so don’t be tempted to move them around from fridge to pantry and back again. And if you’re baking, it’s good practice to take them out and let them reach room temperature before you crack them open.
