Try this with Pear and a sprinkle of freshly grated nutmag on top! Doubling the recipe (for a 9×13 pan), halfing the sugar, and also the baking powder made for nice not too sweet light crumb. Instead of incorporating the butter in the batter, place it in the pan amd put it in the oven to melt while slicing up pears. Layer half the pears on top of butter, pour batter over the butter and pears, then top with the remaining pears and grated nutmeg. Bake till carmalized brown on edges and light brown on top. Enjoy!
