Instructions

The potatoes

Step 1
Start by cutting your potatoes into cubes and bringing them to a boil. I dont peel my potatoes but you can. You'll want to cook them until they are easy to smash with a fork, this can take up to 12-15 minutes depending on how big your chunks are. Then when they are done strain the water and add in mayonnaise gradually as you mash, add in at least a 1/4 cup of milk, and your sour cream if you'd like. Add in your salt and pepper to taste. In the photo above I had a lot more I took a picture a little late but that's the consistency you want.

The meat

Step 2
Dice your onion and add to a heated skillet with butter and thyme. Cook until the onion is golden, and add in your venison. If your using beef you can strain out the fat, but with deer I don't recommend because it's already lean and by doing so you'd get that unwanted gamey taste. Cook the meat all the way through.

The filling

Step 3
Season the meat while on medium head with salt, pepper, fresh minced garlic, and some garlic powder to taste. Then add in a bag of frozen peas and carrots, and then a bag of frozen corn. You can use fresh carrots too if you’d like. Add in your 1 1/2 cup of chicken stalk, and cook until the veggies are done. Then you'll want to add in about 1/4 cup of brown gravy mix, or two packets of gravy mix. And then stir in, then continuing over mid head add in flour until the desired thickness, but keep in mind your going to add cheese, and this will make the filling hold together more and give it a rich flavor. Pull of the heat, then stir in your cheese.

Assembly

Step 4
Fill your casserole dish about halfway and then top with your mash potatoes. This recipe made 2 casserole dishes bit it depends on how large your container is and how much you fill into it. You'll want to strive for half filling, half potatoes. Put into your preheated oven at 400 and bake for 15 mins or until you get a golden top. Then serve hot and enjoy.
