4 steps
Cook:25min
$10 Recipe Series Episode 3: $5 Lentil Dahl Recipe
I know this is probably not traditional at all but when it comes to giving credit to cultural dishes you’re dammed if you do and dammed if you don’t. This is a super simplified version of Dahl that is simply made to help people save money in a cost of living crisis 🥰
It’s ridiculous how good this tastes for only using 4 ingredients!! Let’s break it down
Lentils $2.50
Coconut cream: $1
Curry powder: 50c
Stock: 50c
One of my favourite money saving tips is to buy lentils/legumes and curry powder/spices at Indian grocers in bulk. The savings are crazzyyyy.
Not only is this recipe a money saving machine but it’s also super easy! You pretty much just chuck everything in a pot and let it simmer away for 20 - 30 minutes (stirring occasionally) and your done!
Save this easy budget friendly recipe and send it to someone who needs to save some $$

Instructions
Step 1
Optional first step is to soak your lentils in cold water for 30 - 60 minutes. This will help them cook quicker and apparently helps with digestion too! Then drain them.
Step 2
Bring a pot to medium heat and add the curry powder. Let it toast for 30 - 60 seconds until fragrant
Step 3
Add the rest of the ingredients, stir, then cover with a lid and let it slowly simmer away for 20 - 30 minutes
Step 4
Serve with rice, yogurt, coriander and roti if you like! And enjoy ❤️
