Instructions
Step 1
Wash the split peas. Put the peas, water, thick ribs and sauerkraut on top with the bay leaves. Skim off the foam and cook for about 45 minutes until the peas are tender.
Step 2
Remove the meat from the pan.
Step 3
Add the onion, celeriac, carrot, leek and potatoes.
Step 4
Bring to a boil, cook the vegetables for about 45 minutes.
Step 5
During the last 15 minutes, add the sliced smoked sausage.
Step 6
Take the remaining meat again and cut into pieces (without fat).
Step 7
Add the meat and stock cubes to the pan and stir well.
Step 8
Finish with salt and pepper.
Step 9
Garnish the soup with the celery.
