Instructions
Step 1
Step 1: To assemble your board, start by placing the small bowls first. We arranged ours into a little cluster because they each held the basic ingredients for the hot chocolate. Next we added every item that was used to actually make the hot chocolate: cocoa mix, dark chocolate syrup, white chocolate chips and dark and milk chocolate candy bars.
Step 2
Step 2. Next on our board, we added in all the savory snacks. The Brie looked good lined up in a row with the pecans in a pile above them, and the spicy Chex Mix worked well in a pile at the top of the board.
Step 3
Step 3. Tart and tangy flavors came next. We added the grapes in the center of the board, and we lined up the apple slices at the top. A little goes a long way with these tart and tangy fruits.
Step 4
Step 4. Finally, we added the sweets and toppings. A bowl of freshly whipped cream is a must-have — you can go with a classic whipped cream recipe, or add a dash of booze for the grownups. We snuggled the caramels between the milk and dark chocolate pieces, with dried coconut heaped up like a snowy mountain beside them. Next, we added the big marshmallows and then used the mini marshmallows to fill in any gaps around the board. This created a beautiful flow of marshmallows around the entire board. Lastly we placed a few sprigs of rosemary around the board to give it that nice wintry vibe.
Step 5
To serve up your hot chocolate charcuterie board, warm up everyone's mugs with their favorite milk and then let each person make their own hot chocolate drink just the way they like it. Set out serving utensils, little appetizer plates, and napkins so guests can help themselves to snacks to go with their customized hot chocolate beverages.
