You can flavor the cookies with vanilla extract or lemon extract or orange extract or almond extract. Use 1 tsp of desired extract plus 1 tsp vanilla extract.

Instructions

Step 1
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Lightly grease or line pans with parchment paper.
Step 2
Combine ingredients up until flour then add in 4 1/2 to 5 cups of the flour and beat until stiff. Let rest for 15 minutes for flour to hydrate. Add in remaining flour 1/2 cup at a time. If the dough won't take in any more using the mixer, you may need to knead it by hand.
Step 3
Shape dough into a backwards S shape and clip ends and curves with a knife. Bake for 10 minutes.
