Instructions
Step 1
Shred beets, cabbage and carrots on medium-fine grater and set aside.
Step 2
Saute onions and celery in large soup kettle with butter.
Step 3
Add beef stock and bring to boil.
Step 4
Add shredded vegetables.
Step 5
Boil 10 minutes.
Step 6
Add 3/4 cup catsup and syrup.
Step 7
Keep warm until ready to serve, but do not boil.
Step 8
Garnish each serving with sour cream, topped with chopped ripe olives.
Step 9
For added flavor, add 1/2 cup dry red wine. Can be served hot or cold.
