Step 1
1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Stir together flour, baking soda, and salt.
2. Beat butter and sugars until creamy. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Add flour mixture; beating until combined. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts, if desired. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto ungreased cookie sheet.
3. Bake 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned. Let cool.
