Spicy Korean Fried Tofu
10 steps
Prep:10minCook:10min
Inspired by Korean Fried Chicken! This sauce is spicy but oh so addictive! I used tofu but you can toss any protein or veg source in this sauce. You can replace the rice syrup with any sweetener of your choice! If you like it sweeter, double the sweetener (my personal preference!)

Instructions
Step 1
Remove the tofu from its container and pat it fry with paper towels. The dryer the tofu, the crispier it will become.
Step 2
Slice into bite sized pieces.
Step 3
Coat them well with a thin layer of cornstarch.
Step 4
Heat your frying oil over medium low heat and fry the tofu pieces until slightly golden and crispy. Drain the excess oil on a paper towel before adding it to the sauce.
Step 5
To make the sauce, start off by sautéing the minced garlic in oil for 60 seconds.
minced garlic1 Tbsp
neutral oil1 tsp
Step 6
Add in the rest of the sauce ingredients and stir well.
gochujang2 Tbsp
water½ cup
sriracha1 Tbsp
soy sauce1 Tbsp
rice syrup1 Tbsp
sesame oil1 Tbsp
Step 7
Bring the sauce to a boil. When it starts to bubble, reduce the heat to medium low, and simmer until it thickens slightly (enough to coat the back of a spoon), this takes ~3 to 4 minutes. Turn off the heat.
Step 8
Add in the fried tofu pieces and toss them in the sauce.
Step 9
Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. You can also drizzle on some sesame oil as well!

green onions
Step 10
Enjoy!
This pairs deliciously with white rice.
