Step 1
In bowl of stand mixer, combine flour, chilled butter, salt, and stir at LOW speed until crumbly. Add 1 egg until it is resembles a dough for 5 minutes. Knead with your hands until dough forms a sticky dough ball for 5 more mins. Set aside.
Step 2
Preheat oven to 375F.
Step 3
In a large bowl, combine brown sugar, melted butter, egg, vanilla extract. Whisk vigorously until sugar is completely dissolved. Add walnuts and stir with spatula until fully combined.
Step 4
ASSEMBLY OF WALNUT TARTS: Take a tiny ball of dough and push onto the other side to fill the tiny tart mold. Put out and disregard the excess. Use the remaining dough to fill the remaining tart shells. Place them in a baking sheet.
Step 5
Spoon a teaspoon of the filling over the finished tart shells until it is filled.
Step 6
Bake walnut tarts @ 375F for 18 - 20 mins until tarts are GOLDEN BROWN, and filling has risen.
Step 7
Remove tarts from oven. Cool completely on wire rack. Push the edges, and unmold the walnut tarts.
Step 8
** You can substitute any type of nuts for the filling like pilinuts, pecans, peanuts, cashews, pistachios, pine nuts, or Brazil nuts.
