Instructions

Step 1
Coffee beans: If you have a grinder, set your grinder to coarse grind size, and grind the coffee beans. The coffee grinds should be the size of coarse salt. Skip this step if you are using ground coffee.
Step 2
Heat the water until it reaches 206 degrees Fahrenheit with a food thermometer. The water boils at 212 degrees Fahrenheit, so just when it starts boiling it will reach the desired temperature. If you do not have a thermometer, bring the water to a boil, and let it stand for 1 minute.
Step 3
Pour a little bit of the hot water into the French press to preheat it – about 2 tablespoons, then discard the preheating water.
Step 4
Pour the ground coffee into your French press. As we indicated, it is about 2 2/3 tablespoons of ground coffee or 40 grams. If you are measuring in a scale, place the French press in a scale with the coffee and set the scale to zero (Tare). Pour water until the scale reads 600 grams and make sure the coffee is completely saturated in water. Let stand for one minute uncovered.
Step 5
After the minute has passed, stir gently to loosen up the natural oils of the coffee. Cover without pressing the filter down and let it stand for 3 minutes.
Step 6
After the 3 minutes have passed, press down the press gently. Remember this coffee is very hot! Continue pressing down until it is fully depressed.
Step 7
Pour the coffee into cups and leave the dregs in the French press. Enjoy with your favorite sweetener. I tried with 1 tablespoon agave or coconut sugar, and it is very delicious.
