Instructions

Step 1
Take the beef out of the fridge and bring it up to room temperature. Season with salt and pepper. To make the sauce, gently heat the mirin and sake in a small pan. Remove from the heat and add the soy sauce, vinegar, orange juice and crushed garlic, then set aside. Heat a frying pan over a medium-high heat. Sear the beef for about 1-2 minutes on all sides. Remove it from the heat and leave to rest for at least 10 minutes. Drain the onion and mix it with the watercress on a serving plate. Cut the beefinto thin (smm) slices and add them to the salad. Drain any excess liquid from the grated daikon, if using, and add the daikon to the salad just before serving with the sauce drizzled over the top.
