This Sweet Lebanese dessert is made with Ashta (cream), crunchy Othmalieh dough and a crushed pistachios garnish and covered with aromatic rose water syrup.

Ingredients of the Ashta (Cream):
2 cupscottage cheese
2 cupsmilk
2 spoonsugar
2 tablespoonsstarch
2 tablespoonssemolina
fine
¼ teaspoonvanilla extract

Instructions
Preparing the Ashta cream:
Step 1
Put in a saucepan sugar, liquid milk, semolina, vanilla, and starch, mix all ingredients well, then put the saucepan on a the stove at medium heat.

Stir the mixture constantly until it boils, turn off the heat and leave the cream mixture until it cools a little.
Step 3
In the bowl of the electric mixer, we put the cream mixture and the cottage cheese and mix the ingredients well until becomes combined Ashta.

We put the Ashta in the fridge and leave it for a full hour until it hardens and cools.
Preparing the dough:

Divide the Othmalieh dough into two equal parts (layers).

Grease an oven tray (30 X 30 cm) and distribute the first layer of Othmalieh dough to cover the bottom of the tray, spray it with cooking oil and place it in preheated oven (200°C) for 10 minutes or until golden.

Let it cool down, remove the dough and put aside.
Step 8
Repeat the same for step of the first layer of the Othmalieh dough, so you have the second layer ready.

Let it cool down then move it to a service plate, spread the cold Ashta (cream) generously over the first layer, then put the second layer over the Ashta.

To serve, cut pieces in 8 cm squares, garnish with crushed pistachios and drizzle the syrup on top according to taste.

- 2 cups Granulated Sugar. - 1 cup water. - 1 tb. Lemon Juice. - 1 tsp. Orange Blossom Water. - 2 tsp. Rose Water.
