Step 1
FOR BROWNIE DOUGH: Cream butter & sugars in lg. mixing bowl. Add egg, yolk, & vanilla; beat (2 min.) till creamy.
Step 2
Combine flour, cocoa, soda, baking powder, & salt in sm. bowl. Sift into sugar mixture; stir till dough is just combined. Cover & chill while preparing chocolate chip dough.
Chocolate Chip Cookie
Step 3
Cream butter & sugars in lg. mixing bowl. Add egg, yolk, & vanilla; beat till creamy.
Step 4
Whisk flour, soda, baking powder, & salt in sm. bowl. Add to sugar mixture with chocolate chips. Fold till ingredients are well-mixed.
Brookie
Step 5
Using sm. portion of brownie dough; roll into a ball. With sm. portion of chocolate chip dough; roll into ball. Lightly smash balls together,; form a new, larger ball of dough.
Step 6
Place dough on silpat-lined or lightly greased cookie sheets. Flatten slightly with hand.
Step 7
Bake (10 min.)
Step 8
Cool on pans (2-3 min.); remove to cooling racks to cool completely.
