Grandma's Delicious Rum Cake

Instructions

Step 1
1. Preheat oven to 325°F
Step 2
Spray bundt pan with nonstick coating or butter and flour it
Step 3
Mix cake mix, pudding, oil, water, and rum together in a large mixing bowl
Step 4
Add eggs 1 at a time into the bowl
Step 5
Pour batter into pan and bake 30-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes clean

For the Glaze

Step 6
4 minutes before cake is ready to come out of oven make rum glaze.
Step 7
In a large saucepan over medium heat combine butter, sugar, and water bringing it to a boil. Cook 3-4 minutes

Take off heat and slowly pour in rum while stirring.
Step 9
Then stir in vanilla and set aside.
Step 10
Remove cake from oven and then allow to cool for 15-20 minutes.

After cooling invert cake onto a cooling rack over a cookie sheet

Poke the tops and sides of cake with a wooden skewer.
Step 13
Pour half the glaze inside the bottom of the bundt pan

Gently place the cake back into the bundt pan and poke holes on the other side of the cake.
Step 15
Pour remaining syrup over cake and along the edges of the pan
Step 16
Allow the cake to cool completely about an hour

For the Frosting

Step 17
Beat cream cheese and butter into together in a medium-large mixing bowl until smooth.
Step 18
Scrape down the sides of the bowl to ensure the mixture is evenly mixed

Beat in the vanilla and powdered sugar
Step 20
Spread or pipe on frosting to decorate
