Step 1
prepare the dough by putting all the ingredients in a bowl. whisk with a mixer until the dough has a soft texture. you can also mix the dough with your hands

wrap the dough in film and leave it in the fridge for 20-30 minutes

preheat the oven to 180°C

put the dough into a square or a round pie form sculpting the sides 4-5 cm high. bake it empty for 10 minutes

meanwhile, prepare the frangipane by mixing the butter and sugar with a mixer. add eggs, and rum, mix well. add the almond flour and mix with a spatula.

peel the apples and remove the core. cut them into medium slices

remove the dough from the oven and pour the frangipane into it. put the apple slices to form a ring, pressing them down slightly. bake for 30 minutes

take the pie out and sprinkle almond slices over the apples. bake again for 5 to 10 minutes until almond slices are nicely golden. leave to cool before serving
