Barbecue Meatball Sandwiches with Homemade Fries and a Fresh Cucumber Salad

Instructions
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 210 degrees Celsius
Step 2
Peel or wash the potatoes thoroughly, and slice fries of .5 - 1cm thick
Step 3
Mix the fries with some olive oil on a baking tray and season to taste with salt and pepper
Step 4
Bake for 30 - 40 minutes in the middle of the oven (if using a combination microwave oven it might take longer) and toss halfway. Add the burger buns the last 5 - 7 minutes
Step 5
Mince the shallot and crush the garlic cloves. Remove the seeds from the red chili and mince.
Step 6
Heat half of the sunflower oil in a pan with lid and brown the meatballs in 5 - 6 minutes on a middle high heat. They don't need to be cooked throughout as they will continue to cook in the sauce
Step 7
Remove the meatballs from the pan and add the remaining sunflower oil, and fruit the shallot, garlic, red chili, smoked paprika powder, and cumin for 2 minutes
Step 8
Add in the passata, balsamic vinegar, honey, and soy sauce and bring to a simmer
Step 9
Lower the heat when the sauce starts to bubble and add the meatballs back in. Cover and softly cook for 7-9 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked throughout. Season to taste with salt and pepper and stir occasionally
Step 10
Meanwhile, mix white wine vinegar with sugar and season with salt and pepper. Shave the cucumber with a vegetable peeler and cut the tomato into small parts. Chop up the chives and add in, but save some for garnish
Step 11
Add 3 meatballs to each bun either some tomato sauce and garnish with the remaining chives. Serve the sandwiches with the cucumber salad, oven fries and a sauce of you choice!
