Instructions
Step 1
Heat a soup pot over medium heat and add olive oil. Saute shallot, garlic and red chili flake for 2-3 minutes.
Step 2
Chop sausage into bite size peices and add to pan with onion. Saute until you see some browning.
Step 3
Add broth and scrape up any bits off the bottom of the pan. Bring to a simmer and then add kale, beans and barley.
Step 4
Cook for 5 minutes and then serve. Top with grated cheese and/or fresh herbs if desired.
