Step 1
Heat oven to 350F
Step 2
Mix base ingredients (flour, brown sugar, butter, salt) together and press firmly into a 9 x 13 pan lined with a parchment paper sling

Arrange the pecan halves on top of the base, trying to cover the base completely with a single, even layer.
Step 4
In saucepan, heat the butter, salt and brown sugar, stirring constantly until it comes to boil, then boil for one minute.
Step 5
Pour the sugar mixture evenly over the pecans on the cookie base. Optional: sprinkle with coarse kosher salt.
Step 6
Place the pan in the oven and bake at 350F for ~20 min (should be bubbly).
Step 7
Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle with the chocolate chips. Wait 2 min for chocolate to melt then swirl a knife through the chips leaving some whole. DO NOT SPREAD the chocolate into an even layer, that’s not the what you’re going for here.
Step 8
Cool to room temperature and cut into 3 or 4 dozen squares.
