I don’t know why cutting into a hot-out-of-the-oven Kiev is so satisfying… but I’m not going to question it. I love mine served over some rice so there’s something to soak up all the butter. Cost of non-wic items: $11.94 NOT INCLUDING CHICKEN since the price is so variable by region/store.

Step 1
Mix together the butter and spices in an air-right container. Let it sit overnight on your counter (or at least 1 hour).
Step 2
After letting your butter rest, form into a thin log on a piece of cling wrap. Wrap tightly and freeze while you work on the rest of the recipe.

Cut the bread into cubes (crusts too) and cook at 300 until fully dry. About 10 mins or so but check often so they don’t burn.

Put the toasted bread cubes into a large ziplock. With your hands or a rolling pin, crush into a powder. Set aside.

Trim your chicken of any visible fat and under a piece of cling wrap, pound until about 1/2 in thin. You can use your hands, a rolling pin or a meat tenderizer for this. Try to make your chicken as rectangular shaped as possible. Salt and pepper each side.

Remove the butter from the freezer and cut into 2 equal pieces.
Step 7
Place the butter in the center of each piece of chicken. Tightly fold the chicken over the butter to form a thick log. Imagine like wrapping a present. Wrap in cling wrap and freeze for 30 minutes.
Step 8
Remove chicken from its wrapper (save it you’ll need it again). Coat in the beaten egg, then flour. Place in the bag with the bread crumbs and shake lightly until coated. Repeat for the other piece.
Step 9
Wrap the crusted chicken back into their wrappers and freeze for another 30 minutes.

Preheat oven to 350

Cook for 30-40 minutes or until temp reaches 165 degrees. Be careful when temping to not stab all the way in. You want to temp the chicken, not the butter inside.
