Again, this is a procedure more than a recipe.

Instructions
Step 1
Rinse the cranberries and put them in a sauce pan.
Step 2
Add port to cover the cranberries (they'll float, pay attention. Though... more port? Darn.)
Step 3
Add however much sugar you want. I usually use maybe a half a cup to a cup, but I like things tart. Taste -- you can always add more.
Step 4
Heat on medium. While it heats, add the spices -- again, to taste, but I usually start with between a half a tablespoon and a tablespoon of each of them. (I like these spices, and cranberry is a strong flavor and so is port.)
Step 5
When most of the cranberries have popped, turn off the heat and pour them into a bowl (to serve soon) or a clean canning jar (to keep for later). If you use a canning jar, be sure the lid and band are sterile (boil them for ten minutes, for example), then put them on the filled jar and wait to hear the little "pop" of the seal sealing as the cranberries cool. If you're serving them soon, just put them in a bowl and refrigerate them.
