Sweet and Sour Stir - Fry

Instructions

Step 1
Cut the steak into very thin strips and place in a mixing bowl.
Step 2
Mix together the cornflour, chinese five spice and 100ml water. Pour over the beef and toss well.
Step 3
Drain the pineapple, reserving the juice and cut the rings into chunks.
Step 4
Mix the reserved pineapple juice with the sweet chilli sauce and garlic.
Step 5
Cook the basmati rice as per the packet instructions.
Step 6
Heat the oil in a large wok or frying pan with deeper sides.
Step 7
Using a slotted spoon, drain the beef strips from the cornflour mixture, and reserve the liquid. Add the beef to the pan and stir-fry for 5 minutes, over a high heat, until it begins to brown.
Step 8
Add the vegetables and cook for a further 3 - 4 minutes.
Step 9
Toss in the pineapple chunks and stir.
Step 10
Mix the pineapple juice, sweet chill sauce and garlic with 3 tbsp of the cornflour mixture, pour into the pan. Cook, stirring, until the sauce is bubbling and the beef is cooked through.
Step 11
Serve hot with the basmati rice and prawn crackers.
