Instructions
Step 1
Wash sweet potatoes until no dirt is present.
Step 2
Boil sweet potatoes until nearly tender (will still be slightly hard to touch) usually takes about 20 minutes. Be careful to not over cook.
Step 3
Allow the potatoes to cool on a cooling rack or baking sheet.
Step 4
Easily peel potatoes once they are cool enough to handle.
Step 5
Now cut into uniform chunks. Be sure not to make them to small because you do not want them to become mushy.
Step 6
Once cut arrange in buttered dish and sit aside.
Step 7
Pour the water, sugar, and syrup in a pan and place on stove-top and begin to boil. Be sure to stir occasionally until sugar is dissolved.
Step 8
Add all of the remaining ingredients and continue to boil until sauce forms a heavy syrup. (The way to know you have reached this is when you stick the back of a spoon in glaze it will stick to spoon and slowly drip off).
Step 9
Pour syrup over over sweet potatoes.
Step 10
Bake at 350 degrees until potatoes are thoroughly cooked and glazed which should take about 50 minutes. Be sure to take some syrup from bottom of pan and pour over potatoes several times during baking.
