The cupcakes are the richest, most moist chocolate cupcake I’ve ever tasted that came from a home kitchen. They do taste like a hostess cupcake, if they weren’t full of preservatives and hadn’t been vacuum sealed. I made the cupcake part a week before I needed them, they froze beautifully.
The filling is more buttercream than the Hostess filling (I think a shortening vanilla cream would taste closer) but it was still delicious, if messy.
My ganache never hardened once it was on the cupcakes, but that was probably user error during the making of, not the recipe
Overall, despite mine looking very home made/sloppy, the taster comments were all superlatives.
