I don't remember what shepherd's pie tastes like, but I think this turned out well. I did make some changes though...
Okay so here is the thing, I am a pregnant lady who needs protein. This recipe doesn't call for anything that has a significant amount of protein, so I added brown lentils (I just cooked them in a pressure cooker). I also very unfortunately accidentally red two POUNDS of carrots instead of two cups. *Sigh.* I didn't realize until after they were in the pot. I did take some of them out, but it was difficult because they were already mixed with the mushrooms and shallots. I think it turned out well though? Again I don't know what it's supposed to taste like, and the texture was like refried beans, but the flavor was good nonetheless!
