NY-Style Chocolate Chip Cookies
8 steps
Prep:10minCook:10min
After trying Levain Bakery's signature Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookie, I knew I needed to create it myself. The crispy texture on the outside combined with the gooey center makes for the perfect treat! I love the walnuts inside the cookie and I think it creates a balance with the sweetness of the chocolate chips, but feel free to take them out for an equally delicious cookie :)

Instructions
Dough
Step 1
Take cold butter directly out of the fridge and cream it with the sugars on high speed for two minutes.
Step 2
Add in your vanilla extract and mix for about one more minute.
Step 3
Pour in all your flours (AP flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt) and combine until crumbly. It is okay if it looks dry now!
Step 4
Add your chocolate chips and walnuts and pulse for a few seconds so they don't crush too much.
Step 5
Whisk your egg in a separate bowl and slowly add it in. Stop mixing once the dough forms.
Preparation
Step 6
Use an ice cream scoop or your hands to divide dough into ~150 g balls. Make them bigger or smaller if you would like!
Step 7
Chill over 2 hours or overnight in the fridge. (Optional: Freeze 30 minutes as oven preheats)
Step 8
Preheat oven to 400 F and bake for 11-13 minutes based on your oven. Bake until the exterior is a golden brown color.
