Step 1
Combine all liquids in a pot and salt generously. Set heat to high and bring to a boil.
Step 2
While waiting for soup to boil, finely slice the leeks and cut potatoes into small cubes.
Step 3
Add vegetables and MSG to the pot. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
Step 4
Remove from heat. Add the butter and top with fresh-ground pepper. Serve immediately.
