Instructions

Prepare the Sauce

Step 1
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or saucepan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, garlic, grated carrot, and chopped celery. Sauté for about 5 minutes until the vegetables soften.
Step 2
Add the ground beef (or turkey) to the skillet and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.

Add the Tomatoes and Seasoning

Step 3
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for at least 20-30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. You can simmer longer for a richer flavor.

Cook the Spaghetti

Step 4
While the sauce is simmering, cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Serve

Step 5
Plate the cooked spaghetti on serving plates. Ladle the Bolognese sauce over the spaghetti.
Step 6
Garnish with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves if desired.

Notes

Step 7
You can also serve this with a side of garlic bread or a simple salad for a complete meal.
