Instructions

Step 1
Slow cooker on high. Pour soy sauce into the pot. Sprinkle half the spice over the roast and pour half the hoisin sauce on top. Cook 3 hours.
Step 2
Flip the roast and top with the remaining spice and sauce. Cook an additional 2-3 hours until tender.
Step 3
Pour off the liquid into a glass measuring cup and refrigerate. Allow the roast to rest at least 20 minutes before shredding. After the oil rises, pour off the fat and add the remaining liquid to the shredded pork. If you prefer a sweeter taste, add a tablespoon of brown sugar.
