Instructions

In a food processor ,blend the pistachios and the cinnamon until the pistachios are finely grounded. Pour the mixture in a bowl and add the chocolate chips .

In a small saucepan melt and clarify the butter . Using a pastry brush , brush the butter on the bottom of the baking dish . Add a layer of phyllo dough and brush butter butter to cover . Add another layer of phyllo dough and repeat until 20 sheets are buttered

Pour the pistachio mixture to cover the dough completely

Continue to layer the rest of the phyllo dough brushing butter in between (about 20 sheets). Place the pan in the freezer for about 5 minutes for the butter to harden. With a sharp knife cut lines leaving two inches apart, turn the pan around and do the same to create diamond shaped pieces . Preheat the oven at 375 and bake the baklava for 45 mins .

In a small sauce pan add the water and sugar . Allow a soft boil until it’s completely melted , for about 20 mins. Set aside.

Once the baklava is finished baking, pour the simple syrup all over to cover while the baklava is still hot.
