Instructions
Step 1
In skillet on medium high heat, add oil and place chicken skin side down. Salting to taste.
Step 2
Saute untouched 3-5 minutes until skin is golden brown. Turn and cook an additional 2-3 minutes. Remove from pan.
Step 3
Add chopped onion to remaining oil in pan, cooking and stirring to loosen browned bits for 3 minutes.
Step 4
Add garlic and stir and cook an additional 30 seconds.
Step 5
Add sauerkraut, chicken broth and black pepper to taste. Stirring to combine.
Step 6
Add chicken pieces on top, skin side up. Bring to a simmer, cover and cook for 10 minutes.
Step 7
Uncover and layer frozen Periogi on top of chicken, and around edges of pan. Cover again and cook an additional 15-20 minutes until chicken is cooked through.
