Instructions
Step 1
Wash strawberries and remove stems. Cut large berries in half, then roughly chop.
Step 2
Combine all ingredients in a saucepan. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally. Mixture will sizzle for a while but then juice will begin to form.
Step 3
Continue stirring; mash with a wooden spoon to help produce syrup. Cook until sauce thickens, about 15 minutes.
Step 4
Remove from heat. In a blender, purée about 1/3 of the mixture, then add back into remaining topping. Store in refrigerator.
