Sweet & Spicy Chili

5 steps
Prep:5minCook:30min
My Chili recipe is kind of a spin-off inspired by the "party meatballs" my Mom and my Grandmother made when I was growing up -- frozen meatballs with Chili sauce and Grape Jelly in a crock pot. The combined flavor of the Chili sauce & Grape Jelly always made those meatballs disappear fast at any party. I like using the "HOT" version of the spice packet to balance out the sweetness from the jelly.

Instructions

Step 1
Start by browning the ground beef in a deep skillet. Drain off the fat and return to the pan.
Step 2
Add the diced onion and cook for a few minutes until softened.
Step 3
Add the Kidney beans, Diced Tomatoes, and Tomato paste. Stir just until combined.
Step 4
Add the Chili sauce, Grape jelly, and the seasoning packet. Cook on medium until the jelly is mostly melted, stirring frequently. If adding liquid smoke, add a splash in this step.
Step 5
