Instructions
Bolognese
Step 1
Start with the Bolognese sauce. Roughly chop the onion, carrot, celery, and garlic, place them in a food processor, then blend until they are very finely chopped. Set them aside.
Step 2
Heat up a large pot on high heat, add the oil, and place the minced meat. Let it cook for a couple of minutes without moving it around in order for it to brown. Once the meat gets a nice brown color, remove it from your pot and set it aside
Step 3
Add in the carrot/onion mixture that you previously blended and let it cook on medium heat for a couple of minutes.
Step 4
Add the minced meat back in and mix everything together.
Step 5
Add in the tomato paste and continue cooking for another 5 to 7 minutes on medium heat. You want to make sure to cook the paste well before adding any of the liquids.
Step 6
Then add the chicken stock, milk, salt, bay leaves, nutmeg powder, and butter. Place on low heat and let it cook uncovered for an hour and a half until the sauce has reduced and properly thickened.
Béchamel
Step 7
Once the Bolognese sauce is done cooking, start with the béchamel
Step 8
Add the butter to a medium-sized pot over medium heat and let it melt. Once melted, add the flour and whisk it well until it turns into a paste
Step 9
Then add in the milk, water, salt, cinnamon powder, and chicken bouillon cube. Mix everything very well and bring it to a boil. Lower the heat to medium and keep whisking for a couple of minutes until the sauce thickens.
Step 10
Once done, remove from heat and begin to assemble the lasagna.
Assembly of Lasagna
Step 11
Preheat the oven to over 200 degrees Celsius on both sides
Step 12
Start off by putting a spoon of the béchamel sauce into your baking pan (21×30 cm). Spread it around and place 3 lasagna sheets next to each other. Top that with some Bolognese sauce, spread it evenly, then add some béchamel sauce on top. Drizzle 1 tablespoon of cooking cream on top of the béchamel layer and use the bottom of a spoon to spread it around.
Step 13
Then add the second layer of 3 lasagna sheets and repeat the exact same steps. Add the Bolognese sauce, then the béchamel sauce, then 1 tablespoon of cooking cream.
Step 14
Add the final layer of 3 lasagna sheets, top that with the remaining Bolognese, then add the remaining béchamel sauce, add the ¼ cup cooking cream and spread it around.
Step 15
Top with shredded mozzarella and a sprinkle of Parmessn cheese
Step 16
Place in the oven for around 20-25 minutes and then turn on the oven fan or upper heaters for another 10-15 minutes
