One Pot Spicy Italian Sausage Orzo

This was my first viral recipe on TikTok! It all cooks in one pot, uses simple ingredients, and comes together quickly for an easy dinner.

Ingredients
3 servings
12 ozChicken Sausage
I used the spicy Italian chicken sausage from Trader joe's that are fully cooked
1 tspextra virgin olive oil
½ tsponion powder
4cloves garlic
minced
1 cupOrzo
uncooked
½ tspRed Pepper Flakes
more or less based on spice preference
Âź cupwhite wine dry
2 cupschicken broth
1 cupHeavy Cream
use milk or half and half for a lighter version
4 ozSun-Dried Tomatoes
I used half a jar of the Trader Joe's sundried tomatoes in olive oil
½ tspitalian seasoning
3 ozBaby Spinach
I used about half a bag
Âź cupParmesan Cheese
freshly grated, additional to serve
Âź cupAsiago Cheese
freshly grated
salt
to taste

to taste
Instructions
Step 1
Slice the chicken sausage into around 1/4 inch pieces. Heat olive oil in a Dutch Oven or large saucepan over medium heat. Add the sliced sausage and cook for about 5 minutes stirring occasionally so all sides get browned.
Step 2
Mix in onion powder, minced garlic, uncooked orzo, and red pepper flakes. Let the garlic cook and the orzo toast for 1-2 minutes.
Step 3
Pour in the white wine to deglaze the pan then pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream. Add the sundried tomatoes, italian seasoning, and salt and pepper to taste. Cook for about 10-15 minutes or until the orzo is cooked through.
Step 4
Once the orzo is cooked, remove from the heat. Add the spinach and cheese and stir to combine. Add a lid and let it sit for a couple minutes until the cheese melts and the spinach wilts.
Step 5
Serve immediately with additional cheese on top.
