HALVA PERFECT BARS. halva is a type of middle eastern confectionary - they can come in different flavours and forms. the most popular is the tahini type and that’s what inspired these bars here. 1/2 c tahini 1/3 c honey (vegans can use maple) 1 tbsp coconut oil, melted 1 tsp rose water 1 tsp vanilla extract pinch of cardamom (optional) 1/2 c almond flour 1/2 c plain protein powder* 1 c oat flour* ¼ tsp salt ½ cup chopped roasted pistachio whisk together the wet ingredients. sift and fold in the dry until combined. fold in half the chopped pistachio, reserve the rest for topping. spread the dough into a well greased, small dish. sprinkle the rest of the pistachio and press into the dough then chill in the fridge for an hour. slice and enjoy baby! *i used a vegan protein blend. whey tends to be finer and may result in softer bars. if you want firmer bars, you can add a few extra spoons of protein powder/ oat flour until desired consistency is reached. *you can make your own oat flour by blending whole oats in a food processor
