Instructions
Step 1
Note: You can totally do this by hand or with a mixer.
Step 2
- Mix all the dry ingredients together: flour, sugar, baking powder, dry yeast, and a pinch of salt.
Step 3
- Then add the egg and a bit of the milk. Start your mixer on low speed, gradually pouring in the milk as you knead.
Step 4
- Knead for about 5 to 7 minutes on medium speed.
Step 5
- Add the soft butter, cut into pieces, and continue to knead for about 10 minutes.
Step 6
- At the end, throw in your chocolate chips and knead for a few seconds just until they're mixed into the dough.
Step 7
- The dough should be smooth, flexible, not too hard, and not too sticky. Feel free to adjust the dough's texture with a bit more flour or milk if needed.
Step 8
- Cover and let it rest at room temperature for about 2 hours until it doubles in size - (that's a good sign!)
Step 9
- Divide your dough into several equal-sized pieces; I made 4 big ones, but you can choose any size you like. Place your dough balls either in a greased large container or on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spaced well apart.
Step 10
- Cover and let rest for about 1 more hour.
Step 11
- Bake at 355°F (about 180°C) for roughly 20 to 30 minutes, depending on your oven's power. The brioches should be nicely golden and cooked through.
Step 12
- Let them cool down, and enjoy!
