My Favorite Apple Pie

8 steps
Prep:25minCook:1h
This is my favorite way to make apple pie. This classic dessert is sure to be enjoyed by the whole family. Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. We love to use any excess dough to make cinnamon sugar crust. Simply roll the dough to 1/8 inch thick, then brush with a mixture of 2 Tablespoons melted butter, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and 2 Tablespoons sugar, then bake at 400°F for 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown.

Instructions

Step 1
Preheat oven to 425°F.
Step 2
Prepare pie crust according to the directions in your favorite recipe. Roll bottom crust and lay in a 9 inch pie pan. Set aside.
Step 3
Place apples in a large bowl. Add sugar cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, lemon juice, and tapioca. Mix well.
Step 4
Pour apple mixture into the bottom pie crust of your 9 inch pie plate. Dot with butter.
Step 5
Cover with the top crust and flute the edges. Cut a few holes in the center of the top crust to allow steam to escape.
Step 6
Bake for 60 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the apples are cooked through. If needed, cover the edges of the crust for the last 15 to 20 minutes of baking to prevent burning.
Step 7
Cool completely, then cut into 12 equal size pieces.
Step 8
Serve with whipped cream or your favorite ice cream and enjoy!
