Instructions
Step 1
Put the oil in a pan over a medium heat, and cook the bacon, onion, carrot and garlic for 5 mins, until softened
Step 2
Stir in the flour and cook for 2 mins more
Step 3
Add the bay leaf, parsley and stock, bring to the boil, then add the potatoes and simmer for 20 mins, or until tender
Step 4
Season to taste with black pepper, add the chick peas and cook for a further 2 mins to heat through
Step 5
Serve with crusty bread, if you like
