Instructions

Step 1
Wash and soak lentils for about 30mins. You can also make this recipe with a mix of Moong (Yellow, split lentils) and Masoor (Orange, Red split lentils) in equal parts.
Step 2
Blend onions into a smooth paste
Step 3
Blend tomatoes and green chillies into a smooth paste
Step 4
Fry the onion paste in some oil until it changes colour and then add ginger and garlic pastes and fry for a couple more minutes
Step 5
Add the tomato and green chillies paste along with dry spices (salt, red chilli flakes, garam masala, turmeric powder)
Step 6
When masala is done & leaves oil, add daal and boling water until it just covers daal
Step 7
Let it simmer on low heat for 15mins until daal is tender
Step 8
Add fenugreek leaves and fresh coriander and mix it properly
Step 9
Make tarka with chopped green chillies and zeera in desi ghee. Once ghee melts and zeera and chillies change colour, add the mix to daal and mix properly and cook on low heat for a couple more minutes
Step 10
