For the rice,
Step 1
Season the white rice with sesame seeds and sesame oil.

sesame seeds1 Tbsp
For the spam,
Step 2
Remove the spam from the can.

Pat dry.
Step 4
Slice into thick slices.
Step 5
Pan fry over medium low heat until slightly crispy.
Step 6
For every 4 slices of spam, add the mirin, sugar and soy sauce.
Step 7
Cook the spam in the sauce until the sauce has thickened and become a nice glaze.
Step 8
Remove the spam from the heat.
Step 9
Slice the spam at an angle about 1/3 of the way into the spam.
Step 10
Flip the spam and form the heart.
How to assemble,

Cut a seaweed sheet in half.

Spread a layer of rice onto the seaweed sheet.

On another sheet of seaweed, form and wrap the seaweed around the heart.
Step 14
Cut the seaweed sheet to accommodate the perimeter of the heart so that there is no excess seaweed.
Step 15
Once the spam heart has been wrapped in seaweed, place it onto the rice + seaweed.
Step 16
Fill the heart spam space with rice so that there is no empty space when you roll the gimbap.
Step 17
Roll the gimbap tightly.
Step 18
Slice and enjoy!
