Sugar Cookie-fied Oatmeal

Instructions

Step 1
Heat the butter in a small saucepan over medium-high heat until slightly browned. Add oats and toast in pan for a couple of minutes. The toasting of the oats isn't necessary, but I like the depth of flavor this extra step adds.
Step 2
Next add the mashed banana to the pan. Stir. Then add the milk and water. The pan will sizzle but that's totally normal! Turn down heat to medium-low and bring to a simmer. Add the maple syrup and cook oatmeal for 5-10 minutes or until it starts to thicken up.
Step 3
Once oatmeal is to your desired doneness, stir in vanilla and almond extracts. Pour oatmeal into a bowl. Sprinkle chia seeds, holiday sprinkles and white chocolate chips (if desired) over top. I like my oatmeal creamy so I also add an additional splash of oat milk at this point as well. Eat up and enjoy!
