Cheese & Bacon Breakfast Strata Cake (Breakfast Casserole!)

A sensational way to have a breakfast when you want something a little special and different. We did it for Christmas day breakfast and put it on before we opened presents, then it was cooked by the time we finished. We had some homemade Boston baked beans with it. Absolutely delicious.

It was soggy. The only "flavor" was pepper which settled to the bottom in many places causing big spicy bites with really bland bites. Needs some browned veggies to add flavor throughout. It did set up as shown.

Delicious! I subbed the bacon for breakfast sausage, used Colby Jack cheese, and a French baguette. I added 2 Tbsp garlic butter, ¼ tsp smoked paprika, ½ white onion diced, and diced cherry tomatoes. Also, I used crisco instead of butter for my pan. Only issue I had was the baking time/temp. I did exactly what the recipe said; baked it covered with foil at 350°F for 25 minutes, then uncovered and baked for 15 minutes. I put it back in for 2 minutes to get the bread a little more golden brown. Let it rest for 5 minutes before taking it out of the spring form and it looked great, but when I cut into it, the bread in the middle was still very eggy. I covered it and put it back in at 350°F for 15 more minutes, and I still found the very middle to be a little raw so I ate around it. Next time, I will try the same cooking instruction but bake at 375°F instead. I did have a leaky spring form pan, so I ended up losing some egg. Next time, instead of letting the bread soak in egg for 30 minutes covered in the fridge, I will leave it overnight to make sure it's completely absorbed.

Didn't have a spring form so put it in a 9x9" square glass dish. Needed to cook a little longer than suggested time. Next time I will probably add onion powder or another seasoning as it seemed a little bland to me. Overall, pretty good!

I am impressed! Smells heavenly & taste great! I used foil cup (which suits my kids’ lunchboxes) to bake in. Baked covered lightly in foil for 12 mins, then baked without foil for another 7 mins. Turn off heat and let them sit in for another 5 mins before I take them out. (In the whisked egg I added spinach powder, garlic & onion powder) mine is 4 servings which makes 5 cup foil Oh yes, I made these the night before in a container.

This is really good. A great savory take on bread pudding.

This is an easy to pull of with kids meal to make for a weekend breakfast. We enjoyed this with sliced oranges!

Easy. Really good. Next time will be adding some other ingredients.

Add spinach

Added a tsp of chipotle chili powder and it came out great! So much like a quiche without being one.

It fills you with only one piece!! It is sooo delicious and leaves leftovers!! I would add more salt or other spices, though!

I would recommend that less salt should be added. Due to the bacon's salty flavor, a sprinkle of salt should be sufficient. Please be alert that more time is needed than the instructed time.

With a lot of adjustments it turned out great the 2nd time i cooked it. 1st time was to dry & not much flavor. I added good amount of everything seasoning, Chives, & onion powder. Also enjoyed with mushrooms & i like 2 pour gravy over the top of it. Sausage also makes it awesome

What a great idea! Thank you!! I used a square pan, lined it with parchment paper. My Ingredients: 1. Costco's Francisco seeded gourmet hot dog rolls to line the pan after torn apart. 2. Eggs and milk, salt and pepper 3. Jimmy Dean's original pork sausage crumbles 4. Kirkland's Mexican style blend cheese Bonus: For the next batch, I'll add the same ingredients and for my spicy lovers, add Mt. Olive's diced jalapeño peppers.

For anyone thinking of doing this i haven't yet but i just realized you don't empty the bread and pour the mixture there, you actually have to cut the bread in pieces and soak it in the egg and then you bake it in a pyrex like a monkey bread type of thing consisting of bread pieces unified by baking it with egg

This was actually my first recipe I tried by myself after downloading this app. I really recommend this recipe, it's reallyyyy easy to make and the result is actually delicious. They said: "You can use any type of bread" and it's true, I used a baguette with big holes in it and thought I wouldn't get it right, but it still worked! Thank you for making this:) I ate this in 2 mornings (kept in fridge)
