Instructions
Step 1
Marinate for maximum flavor: In a large bowl, toss the steak slices with olive oil, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Marinate for at least 10 minutes, or up to 30 minutes for deeper flavor.
Step 2
Sizzle and sear: Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Add the marinated steak slices and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until desired doneness. Set aside on a plate.
Step 3
Veggie fiesta: In the same skillet, add the bell pepper, onion, and jalapeno pepper (if using). Saute for 5-7 minutes, or until softened and slightly charred.
Step 4
Salsa time: In a blender or food processor, combine chopped cilantro, lime juice, and water. Blend until smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Step 5
Assemble and savor: Fill romaine lettuce leaves (optional) with steak slices, sauteed veggies, and a dollop of salsa. Top with sliced avocado and enjoy!
