Linzer Tart French Toast

Lizer tarts are cookie sandwiches filled with raspberry jam. This recipe uses French toast instead of cookies. Make it on Valentine's Day and use a heart-shaped cookie cutter.

Ingredients
4 servings
1 ½ cupsskim milk
or low-fat
1egg
beaten
2 tablespoonsorange juice
1 teaspoonvanilla extract
½ teaspooncinnamon
¼ teaspoonnutmeg
¼ teaspoonground cloves
vegetable oil cooking spray
8slices whole-grain bread
confectioners' sugar
4 tablespoonsraspberry jam

Instructions
Step 1
Mix the milk, egg, orange juice, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves together in the bowl.
Step 2
Spray the frying pan with vegetable oil cooking spray. Place the frying pan on a burner and preheat on medium-high for 2 minutes.
Step 3
Dip each slice of bread into teh egg mixture and place it in the pan.
Step 4
When each slice is golden brown underneath, turn it over and cook the other side.
Step 5
Move each slice to a cutting board witha. spatula and allow to cool slightly.
Step 6
With the cookie cutter, cut a shape in the center of each of 4 slices of bread. Dust each shape lightly with confectioners' sugar.
Step 7
Spread the remaining 4 slices of bread with raspberry jam.
Step 8
Assemble by placing a shaped slice on top of each slice spread with jam. Add syrup if you like.
