Instructions
Step 1
Put the milk and the butter in a saucepan and bring it to the boil.
Step 2
Take it off the heat.
Step 3
Beat the eggs and whisk them in little by little stirring continuously
Step 4
Leave to cool.
Step 5
Mix the flour, the sugar and the rum in a bowl and then add this and the vanilla pod to the milk mixture.
Step 6
Leave to sit until the next day.
Step 7
Sieve.
Step 8
Butter the fluted cake moulds and pour this mixture in leaving 1cm space at the top.
Step 9
Heat the oven to 180°C and cook the cake- lets for 1 hour or until they are dark golden brown. Turn out the cakes whilst still hot.
Step 10
The cakelets are at their best eaten the same day.
